Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, in line with Article 32(3)(i)(dd) of the Namibian Constitution, has appointed Hon. Frans Kapofi, current Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, to temporarily oversee the portfolio of Industries, Mines and Energy. This appointment follows the President’s earlier assumption of responsibility for the Ministry to maintain leadership stability and uninterrupted service delivery amid recent changes.
The constitutional provision enables the President to reassign ministerial responsibilities as needed to ensure efficient government operations. Hon. Kapofi’s interim leadership will support ongoing efforts in Namibia’s industrialisation, mining, and energy transformation while allowing time to find a permanent appointee.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah stressed the importance of disciplined, urgent, and accountable governance, aligned with the 8th Administration’s guiding principles and the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6). She expressed confidence in Hon. Kapofi’s capability to manage the Ministry with diligence and integrity.
This decision underscores the President’s dedication to constitutional governance, continuity, and stability, thereby ensuring government remains committed to delivering tangible results for Namibian citizens.
