President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah Hosts Global Water Partnership CEO Alex Simalabwi to Strengthen Namibia’s Climate Resilient Water Management Efforts

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah received a courtesy visit from Mr. Alex Simalabwi, Chief Executive Officer of the Global Water Partnership (GWP), at State House.

The Global Water Partnership is an international network established in 1996 to advance the sustainable management and development of water resources around the world. The organisation works with governments and institutions to promote water security through integrated, inclusive, and climate-resilient approaches.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah welcomed Mr. Simalabwi and his delegation to Namibia and expressed her appreciation for accepting her invitation. She noted that the engagement provides an important platform for Namibia, as the country continues to face the harsh realities of climate change and water scarcity in its arid environment.

Mr. Simalabwi thanked the President for the invitation and acknowledged Namibia’s challenges in ensuring reliable water provision. He emphasised that Namibia requires a transformation in the water sector to meet growing needs and build resilience.

He further expressed the Global Water Partnership’s readiness to collaborate with Namibia in strengthening water management systems and supporting the country’s long-term development goals.
