President Nandi-Ndaitwah Calls on Namibian Diaspora in US to Uphold National Values and Drive Development Home

During her engagement with the Namibian community in the United States, President Nandi-Ndaitwah called on citizens abroad to uphold the values that define them as Namibians; resilience, hard work, and integrity. “Your actions, wherever you are, reflect on Namibia. Conduct yourselves as true ambassadors of your homeland.”

President Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized that Namibia’s development journey requires the collective effort of all Namibians, both at home and abroad. She encouraged the diaspora to actively explore ways to contribute to the country’s socio-economic growth in priority areas such as agriculture, education and training, sports, health, land and housing, sanitation, renewable energy, tourism, water, fisheries, and the creative industries.

The President further urged Namibians abroad to view their global experiences as an opportunity to contribute knowledge and innovation back home to build Namibia.

During the dialogue, Namibians in the diaspora presented their projects and initiatives in fields such as clothing production, engineering, and other innovative sectors, while others shared valuable suggestions on strengthening areas like mental health support. Several participants pledged to explore ways of bringing these contributions back home to advance Namibia’s growth.

In closing, the President reaffirmed her belief in a shared vision for the nation: “Together, let us shape the Namibia we imagine: a Namibia united in purpose, bound by heritage, and driven by hope. You must find your way to make a contribution, because we value your commitment to your identity and to your homeland the Land of the Brave.”
