LUSAKA, Oct. 22 — Mozambican President Daniel Francisco Chapo will pay a three-day working visit to Zambia, the Zambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced Tuesday. Chapo will visit from Wednesday to Friday at the invitation of Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, the ministry said in a statement. The two leaders are expected to hold bilateral talks to review existing agreements and explore new areas of cooperation. During his stay, Chapo will also attend Zambia’s 61st Independence Day celebrations on Friday as the guest of honor. The ministry said the visit underscores the warm and enduring relations between the two countries and marks an important step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation based on shared values, mutual respect, and a collective vision for regional trade, peace, and stability. It added that the visit reaffirms both countries’ commitment to deepening cross-border trade and infrastructure connectivity through initiatives such as the Nacala Development Corridor, a key trade route linking Zambia to the Indian Ocean. “Zambia and Mozambique share longstanding bonds of friendship and solidarity, rooted in historical ties and a shared border,” the statement said, noting that the two nations continue to collaborate closely within regional and continental frameworks such as the Southern African Development Community and the African Union to promote peace, security, and socio-economic integration.
