The Government of the Republic of Namibia wishes to inform the public of the full military funeral arrangements for the late Mr. Lazarus !Guiteb, a revered former Robben Island prisoner, who passed away on 15 July 2025 at the age of 82.
In recognition of his significant contribution and sacrifice, the late Mr. !Guiteb will be honored with a full military funeral officiated by Her Excellency President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
The memorial service is scheduled for Friday, 1 August 2025, at the Mokati Stadium in Otjiwarongo, located in the Otjozondjupa region. The burial service will follow on Saturday, 2 August 2025, at the New Orwetoveni cemetery in Otjiwarongo.
The Ministry of Information’s Media Liaison Services issued this announcement to ensure the public is informed and able to pay their respects to a distinguished national hero.
