 Zambia cholera cases climb to 228

LUSAKA, Feb. 11 — Zambia recorded 20 new cholera cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative cases to 228, according to figures released Sunday by the health ministry. The cases were recorded in six of the country’s 116 districts, with Lusaka, the capital, recording its first case. According to the health ministry, five patients were discharged, bringing the total discharges to 189, while nine people have died so far. About 30 people remain in hospitalized. Chililabombwe district in Copperbelt province is the hardest hit, with a total of 179 cases, followed by Nakonde, in northern Zambia, with 27 cumulative cases.
