Namibian President Extends Voting Period

Windhoek, Nov 29 — His Excellency President Nangolo Mbumba has extended Voting Period Following the recommendation by the Electoral Commission of Namibia for the extension of voting during the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly Elections at
selected polling stations. The President Mbumba has extended the voting period under the powers vested in the President by section 64(1)(b) of the Electoral Act, 2014 (Act No.5 of 2014).

The President has therefore amended Proclamation No.28 of 26 September 2024 by extending the period for the election of the President and for the election of members of the National Assembly referred to in that Proclamation from 21h00 on Wednesday, the 27th
of November 2024 until Saturday, the 30th of November 2024 at 21h00 subject to section 93(3) of that Act.

The extension referred to is applicable to the polling stations set out in the Schedule to the Proclamation, published in terms of Government Notice No. 305 of 23 October 2024.The fixed polling stations will open from 07h00 to 21h00. The mobile polling stations will open on the indicated times as communicated by the ECN. The extended voting days have not been declared public holidays.

The Presidency wishes to assure the Namibian public that the President is committed to upholding the Constitution, including the right of every citizen who has reached the age of 18 years to vote. President Mbumba would like to thank Namibians for their patience and calm
during this period of elections.
