Windhoek, Sept 22 — President Nangolo Mbumba has applied his mind In terms of the powers vested in the President by Article 32 (4) (c) (bb) of the Namibian Constitution. On the recommendation of the Security Commission, President Mbumba has appointed Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo as Inspector General of the Namibian Police for a period of three years. The appointment is with effect from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2027.
In the letter of appointment, President Mbumba emphasized that Lieutenant General Shikongo is expected to lead the Namibian Police Force and execute all functions entrusted to him by the Police Act No. 19 of 1990 and perform such other duties as may be lawfully assigned by the relevant authorities from time to time.
President Mbumba expressed confidence in the ability of Inspector General Shikongo to execute his duties with professionalism and fairness as he implements programmes directed towards the fight against crime, transformation and modernization of the Namibian Police Force, to be able to operate to the highest regional and global benchmarks for the maintenance of law and order.
