CAPE TOWN, Sept. 20 — The Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa, has been ranked as the very best hotel in Africa and the 28th best globally, according to a document posted on the website of the hotel. “We are delighted to share that Mount Nelson has been listed in the World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024, ranking at 28. We have also been awarded the title of the Best Hotel in Africa 2024,” announced the hotel on its website. William Reed Business Media, a business magazine and digital media company based in Britain, published The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024 list at an awards ceremony held in London Tuesday. Mount Nelson secured the 28th position in the global ranking, while the Capella Bangkok hotel in Thailand clinched the top spot in the world as per the list. In addition, Mount Nelson claimed the award for Best Hotel in Africa 2024. Three other African hotels to make the list were La Mamounia at 31st and Royal Mansour at 38th, both in Marrakech in Morocco, and Singita at 44th, which is situated in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. Mount Nelson, opened in 1899 and affectionately known as “The Nellie” or “Pink Lady,” was praised as “an iconic South African palace in the midst of a renaissance.”
