OUAGADOUGOU, Aug. 26 — Several people, mostly civilians, were killed in an attack Saturday in north-central Burkina Faso, local media reported. National broadcaster Radiodiffusion Television du Burkina reported Sunday evening that there were also people injured in the attack targeting local residents in the Barsalogho area. Burkinabe communication minister Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo condemned the “barbaric and cowardly attack against women, children, and the elderly without distinction.” The minister called for unity among citizens and support for efforts against attempts to subjugate Burkina Faso, according to the Burkina Information Agency. The total number of casualties has not yet been disclosed, and no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
