Namibia to host remembrance ceremony in honor of the late President Dr. Hage G. Geingob

Windhoek, Aug 2 — Namibian Presidency on Thursday 1 August 2024 announced that a remembrance Ceremony will take place on Saturday 3 August 2024 in honor of the third President of the Republic of Namibia, the late President Dr. Hage G. Geingob at Heroes’ Acre in Windhoek. The late President Geingob served as the third President of Namibia and Commander in Chief of the Namibian Defence force from 2015 until his death on 4 February 2024 at the age of 82 years. Born on 3 August 1941, the late President Dr. Geingob would have celebrated his 83rd birthday anniversary tomorrow Saturday 3 August 2024.

Tomorrow’s remembrance ceremony will include the renaming of street to Hage Gottfried Geingob Road. Another item on the program will be the conferment of a shash to the current President His Excellency Dr. Nangolo Mbumba from former President H.E. Hifikepunye Pohamba. This is a standard practice when a President assumes office which was not done during the transition of power in February 2024.

The late President Dr. Hage G. Geingob will be remembered as a unifier and as the father of the Namibian House.
