WINDHOEK, June 14– FIFA has banned Namibia’s African Stars FC from registering any new players at both national and international levels for three consecutive transfer periods.
This decision was announced on Thursday, following the club’s failure to honor a financial dispute involving Ghanaian striker Peter Adiwo.
Adiwo had reported African Stars to FIFA for breach of contract after the club failed to pay him 180,000 Namibian dollars (9,800 U.S. dollars) within the 45 days mandated by FIFA, which spanned April 26 until June 2024.
“In this regard, we wish to inform the parties that a ban from registering new players internationally has been implemented by FIFA as of today,” read FIFA’s official statement.
Despite this setback, African Stars successfully defended their Namibia Premier Football League title in April this year.
