Botswana President extends condolences to the families of Bus crash victims in Limpopo.

Windhoek, April 1 — Botswana President, his excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi on Friday 29 March 2024 send out a message of condolelence to the families following the bus crash in Mamatlakal in Limpopo province, South Africa.

In a statement President Masisi said ”We woke up this morning to the sad news of a horrific accident that occurred yesterday on the 28th March 2024, in Mamatlakala in Limpopo Province, South Africa.Batswana betsho, join me, my wife, Cabinet and government in expressing our deepest condolences to the members of the ZCC from Molepolole who were in a pilgrimage for the Easter religious rituals. A total of 45 people perished in the accident with one 8 year old survivor. Let us all come together in unity of prayer and solidarity with the families of the victims. I urge all Christians and followers of other Faiths, to pray for healing and closure.”

The Botswana President also extends appreciation to his counterpart President of South Africa His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa for the support. ”I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to President Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa, the government of the Republic of South Africa, their Police and emergency services for their consolations and rapid response, and also our High Commissioner and her staff including our Police, for their role in managing this crisis.”

The Minister and Head Generale of Botswana, Mr. Oreeditse Sola Molebatsi is thanked for providing leadership under the circumstances. The Church Leadership and members are consoled as are their families.

This tragedy is a major national loss and will take time to overcome given its complexity and severity. I would like to urge as humbly as I can, that we all are alert, mindful and careful as we use our roads over the remaining days of our Easter season. Please, be the bigger and better driver, passenger, pedestrian, cyclist and citizen in order for us to all arrive home safely everyday.
