ABIDJAN, Feb. 8 — Cote d’Ivoire defeated the Democratic Republic of the Congo 1-0 in the semifinals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday. The only goal of the game was scored by Sebastien Haller in the 65th minute. Host nation Cote d’Ivoire will face Nigeria in Sunday’s final, after the Super Eagles defeated South Africa 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the other semifinal. Cote d’Ivoire previously won the AFCON in 1992 and 2015, while Nigeria emerged victorious in the 1980, 1994 and 2013 editions of the tournament.
