One Economy Foundation hosts Media Awards

Windhoek, Feb 01 — One Economy Foundation on Friday 19 January 2024 hosted their Inaugural media awards Ceremony at AM Weinberg hotel in Windhoek. Various media practitioners were awarded for their efforts to report on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBV-F) and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Some of the winners on the night were Gordon Joseph & Maria Kaluushu from NBC in the Television category on the story about Magdalena Stoffels, Will justice ever be served? while Selma Ikela & Katemba Tjipepa from one Africa Television took the runner up award with the story title Murdered Expecting Teen. Vitalio Angula from voice of America walk away as a winner in the Radio Category on the Story title: Namibia to introduce HPV Vaccine while Choolwe Siachoono from UNAM Radio took the runner up award. Shelleygan Petersen from the Namibian took home the print media award on the story title: N$15 per year for Sanitary pads, while Tuyeimo Haidula from the Namibian Sun came second in the print media category with the story title: Raped on Valentine’s day. In the Digital category Selma Iyambo from Sex Talks Podcast took both first and runner up awards with the story title Sex Convos in African Households and Netflix and chill not consent.
