Windhoek, Aug 28 — Namibian President Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has conveyed Namibia’s heartfelt condolences to His Majesty King Haakon VIII, the Royal Family, the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Norway following the passing of His Majesty King Harald V.
In her message of condolence, President Nandi-Ndaitwah paid tribute to King Harald V, describing him as a devoted monarch who served Norway with dignity, compassion and an unwavering sense of duty.
The President expressed Namibia’s solidarity with the people of Norway during this period of national mourning, while honouring the late King’s life and legacy.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah also reflected on the special and longstanding friendship between Namibia and Norway, recalling Norway’s invaluable solidarity and support for the Namibian people during the struggle for freedom and independence.
She noted that the historic ties between the two countries have continued to grow in the years since Namibia’s independence, anchored in cooperation, mutual respect and a shared commitment to peace, democracy and human dignity.
The President emphasised that the bonds forged during Namibia’s liberation struggle remain an important foundation for the continued relationship between the two nations.
As Norway mourns the loss of its monarch, Namibia joins the Norwegian people and the Royal Family in remembering King Harald V and honouring his contribution and legacy.
