Okongo, July 16 – Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has officially opened its first Mobile Home in Okongo, bringing essential telecommunications services closer to residents of the town and surrounding communities. The new outlet increases MTC’s retail footprint to 40 stores countrywide and marks another milestone in the company’s commitment to expanding convenient customer access across Namibia.
For years, residents of Okongo and neighbouring communities travelled nearly 100 kilometres to Eenhana to access essential MTC services. With the official opening of the Mobile Home, customers can now enjoy these services closer to home, significantly improving convenience and access.
Customers visiting the new Mobile Home can access a comprehensive range of services, including SIM card registrations and replacements, contract applications, account payments and renewals,
MTC Maris services, as well as the purchase of recharge vouchers and other MTC products.
MTC Corporate Communications Practitioner, Erasmus Nekundi, said, “The people of Okongo had long called for permanent MTC presence in the town, and we are pleased to have finally opened our new store that will be serving the populace of the town and adjacent communities. We have always maintained that access to telecommunications services is essential to socio-economic development, and increasing our customer touchpoints is well aligned with our mandate and customer-centric
values.”
The new outlet forms part of MTC’s Integrated Strategic Business Strategy and digital inclusion agenda, which seeks to expand quality telecommunications services into Namibia’s key growth areas, guided by demographic and economic trends.
Nekundi added that MTC remains committed to investing in retail infrastructure that strengthens customer access across the country.
“Every new retail outlet we open is about bringing MTC closer to our customers. As communities grow, we remain committed to investing in infrastructure that makes our services more accessible, convenient and responsive to the needs of every Namibian,” he said.
“We are very happy with the shop. It is very close to home, and now I don’t have to spend so much money to travel to Eenhana. Thank you, MTC, for thinking about us,” said Mr Tangeni Shinedima, a resident from Okongo. The mobile home has been well received by the residents of the Okongo community, who remain excited and thankful for the services brought to their doorstep.
Following the opening of the Okongo Mobile Home, MTC’s retail expansion programme will continue with new Mobile Homes planned for Walvis Bay and Okuryangava (Windhoek), a permanent structure, the relocation of its Ongwediva store to a larger premises within Oshana Mall, and additional outlets planned for Omaruru, Otjinene and potentially Outjo.
