Namibian President to undertake state visit to China

Windhoek, July 3 — Her Excellency President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will undertake a State Visit to the People’s Republic of China from 5 to 11 July 2026 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.

The visit aims to strengthen the long-standing Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Namibia and China, with discussions focusing on trade, investment, mining, manufacturing, agriculture, renewable energy, green hydrogen, infrastructure, education, technology, public health and tourism.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah will hold bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping and other senior Chinese leaders, while also visiting key manufacturing plants, innovation centres and industrial enterprises.

She will participate in the Namibia–China High-Level Trade and Investment Conference to promote investment, industrial cooperation and business partnerships between the two countries. President Nandi-Ndaitwah will visit leading Chinese Manufacturing facilities, innovation centres and strategic industrial enterprises, including engagements with companies in the electronics, telecommunications, renewable energy and nuclear energy sector.

China remains Namibia’s largest overall trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching a record N$40.64 billion in 2025, an increase of 10.3 percent from N$36.86 billion recorded in 2024. Namibia’s exports to China rose to N22.72 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of N$4.80 billion, underscoring the growing importance of China as a strategic trading and investment partner. The President will be accompanied by Cabinet ministers, senior government officials and business representatives. She departs for China on 4 July and returns to Namibia on 12 July 2026.
