The NAMDIA Foundation officially handed over three newly constructed classroom blocks and two water tanks to schools in Kavango West on 24 October 2025, significantly enhancing educational infrastructure and access to clean water in rural communities. The handover ceremony was held at Hamweyi Primary School and attended by senior regional leaders, education officials, community members, and Foundation representatives, underscoring a commitment to quality education and essential services in Namibia.

Honourable Lucas Sinimbo Muha, Chairperson of the National Council, praised NAMDIA for turning Namibia’s diamond wealth into social benefits, highlighting education and human capital development as national priorities under Vision 2030 and the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6). He emphasized the importance of partnerships aligning corporate purpose with public goals to ensure no Namibian child is left behind.

Mr. Justus Hausiku, Chairperson of the NAMDIA Board of Directors, affirmed that the initiative exemplifies the Foundation’s vision to convert diamond proceeds into meaningful development outcomes, stating that every diamond traded represents a promise fulfilled through investments in education and basic services.

The new classroom blocks are situated at Hamweyi, Sitenda, and Ekondjo Primary Schools, while Kasivi and Ncaute Primary Schools each received a water tank to improve access to clean water. The NAMDIA Foundation fully funded the N$5.9 million project.

Honourable Thomas K. Rengi, Chairperson of the Regional Education Forum, expressed gratitude for NAMDIA’s continuous support, describing the new facilities as investments in children’s dreams and community futures, reducing overcrowding and addressing local challenges.

Following the ceremony, site inspections and ribbon-cutting events were conducted at the beneficiary schools, showcasing the tangible impacts of the Foundation’s work and the importance of community partnerships for sustainable development.

The NAMDIA Foundation’s efforts align firmly with Namibia’s NDP6 priorities, focusing on equitable education access, human capital development, and rural infrastructure improvements. Its ongoing support spans Education, Health, and Sport sectors, including infrastructure, bursaries, healthcare equipment, and sports development to uplift and transform Namibian communities.
