The Namibia Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) proudly announces that its Executive Director, Ms Toska Sem, has been appointed Second Vice-Chairperson of the Technical Commission of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This prestigious role was secured following her nomination by Australia and secondment by Cameroon and Kazakhstan at the 42nd ICAO Assembly held recently in Montreal, Canada.
This appointment places Namibia in a leadership position within the international aviation community, underscoring the country’s expanding role in shaping global aviation safety and air navigation standards. The Technical Commission plays a crucial role by reviewing and analysing working papers on aviation safety and air navigation services before recommending resolutions to the ICAO plenary, thereby supporting the organization’s mission of maintaining safe, secure, and efficient skies worldwide.
Ms Sem’s election not only highlights Namibia’s technical expertise and credibility but also opens up opportunities to enhance national and regional aviation capabilities through increased global collaboration. For Namibia, a smaller nation, this leadership role is a significant milestone that boosts Africa’s presence and reputation in global aviation.
The NCAA congratulates Ms Sem warmly and pledges full support as she works to advance aviation safety and regulatory compliance for Namibia and the continent.
