Youth are at the top of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s Agenda

“A healthy nation is a productive nation. For our young people to take advantage of the opportunities before them, we must join hands to ensure their holistic development.” – H.E. Dr. Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah

Windhoek, Sept 22 — Ahead of the UNGA80 High-Level Week, President Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah took part in a side event that highlighted Namibia’s commitment to youth empowerment. She pointed to the Physically Active Youth (PAY) programme, a community initiative from Katutura that has transformed lives through after school support and cycling development. PAY demonstrates that investing in young people is an investment in the nation’s future.

This message was reinforced during the Intergenerational Fireside Chat, where the President was joined by Ambassador Dr. Kaire Mbuende, Hon. Fenny Tutjavi, Romario Smith, and Marie Jeanne Ndimbira Rosner, with Vivienne Sequeira of The Africa Society as moderator.

The President stressed that youth empowerment remains central to Namibia’s path under NDP6 and Vision 2030. She spoke about the National Youth Fund of N$257 million Namibian dollars to support skills training and apprenticeships, the professionalisation of sports, culture and creative industries, and the expansion of infrastructure and digital transformation. Above all, she emphasised initiatives like PAY as proof of how communities can create opportunities for young Namibians.

Namibia continues to place young voices at the centre of its development journey.
