President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah Charges Namibian Ambassadors to Advance National Development and Economic Diplomacy

On 18 September 2025, Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia, addressed the nation’s seasoned diplomats during a meeting at State House with Heads of Mission. The President warmly welcomed the Ambassadors and High Commissioners-Designate, acknowledging their veteran status in Namibia’s diplomatic service, and formally announced their appointments to various key international posts.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized that these appointments are not merely ceremonial but carry a solemn trust to serve Namibia with integrity, dedication, and patriotism. She clarified that while some of the diplomats had previously been commissioned and thus remain Ambassadors, today’s occasion marked the official charge for their new offices, with some new Heads of Mission to be commissioned following finalization of accreditation processes.

The President highlighted the challenging global context characterized by shifting geopolitical dynamics, uncertainty, and rising economic protectionism. Appointing experienced diplomats was a deliberate choice to navigate bilateral relations and focus especially on advancing Namibia’s economic diplomacy. She listed the new Ambassadors Designate, including notable assignments to countries such as the People’s Republic of China, Russian Federation, United States of America, Sweden, Germany, and several others.

In line with Namibia’s constitutional and national vision frameworks, such as Vision 2030 and the 6th National Development Plan, the President tasked the diplomats to align their work with national priorities. She reminded them that foreign policy is an extension of domestic policy, urging them to create opportunities for young Namibians, secure market access for Namibian products, and connect local talents with global prospects in sectors like the creative industry.

Recounting the sacrifices of Namibia’s forebears in the struggle for freedom, President Nandi-Ndaitwah called on the diplomats to serve not only the government but also the aspirations of all Namibians, representing them with dignity and honor. She emphasized their role as custodians of the country’s enduring bilateral and multilateral relationships and as role models for the youth.

The President concluded by charging the newly appointed Ambassadors to discharge their duties with wisdom and courage, projecting Namibia as a nation of integrity, professionalism, and economic progress. She expressed confidence in their abilities to face challenges, encourage peace, and promote Namibia’s potential worldwide while reminding them to serve with pride, dignity, and honor.

“Go forth and make friends among nations. Spread the seeds of peace and share Namibia’s potential with the world… Serve Namibia with honour! Serve it with pride! Serve it with dignity! And let our flag fly higher,” she declared .
