Mariental, Hardap Region — Nationwide consultations on the Draft Teaching Profession Bill and its Regulations are continuing today at the Teacher Resource Centre in Mariental, bringing together key education stakeholders. The engagement involves teachers, unions, parents, learners, and community members who jointly discuss critical aspects shaping Namibia’s teaching profession.
Key deliberations focus on areas such as teacher registration, professional ethics, qualifications, continuing professional development, and disciplinary procedures. These discussions aim to establish a robust framework that supports teacher accreditation, accountability, and safeguards the interests of learners.
Ms. Asumptha Kaoseb, Regional Deputy Director for Programmes and Quality Assurance in Hardap, emphasized the significance of inclusive participation. She called on attendees to contribute actively and highlighted the importance of collaboration, saying the consultations present a vital opportunity to ensure the final regulations are comprehensive, practical, and reflective of Namibia’s educational realities.
“The Bill is ours all,” Ms. Kaoseb reminded participants, urging openness in engagements and encouraging questions and constructive challenges to assumptions.
The Ministry of Education continues to advocate for widespread stakeholder involvement to guarantee that the finalized Teaching Profession Bill and its accompanying Regulations respond to the needs and voices of Namibians nationwide.
