Africa Religious Peace Academy Leads Interfaith Harmony in Johannesburg

Johannesburg, August 21 — In a significant stride towards continental unity, nearly 300 religious and community leaders from across Africa are set to convene at the Sandton Convention Centre for the inaugural Africa Religious Peace Academy. Under the inspiring theme, “Bridging Beliefs: Advancing Peace Through Interfaith Harmony in Africa,” this landmark event aims to become a cornerstone for fostering peace and collaborative spirituality throughout the continent.

Organized jointly by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) and the Sikh Council of Africa, the Academy promises to unite a diverse spectrum of faiths, including Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, and African Traditional Religion (ATR). These spiritual traditions, rich in heritage and influence, hold the transformative potential to overcome Africa’s historical and socio-political challenges from colonial legacies and xenophobic violence to land disputes and cross-border tensions.

“Religion can be a key driver of unity and peace. It was with this belief that we decided to organize this Academy,” stated an event official in an exclusive interview, underscoring the pivotal role of faith-based dialogue in conflict resolution and social cohesion.

The comprehensive program comprises keynote speeches by renowned regional experts, dynamic panel discussions, and interactive breakout sessions designed to empower religious leaders with practical conflict transformation tools. Central to the Academy’s mission is the promotion of the Charter for Forgiveness, envisioned as a foundational framework for reconciliation and healing across communities.

By tailoring HWPL’s successful International Religious Peace Academy (IRPA) model to Africa’s unique socio-political landscape, the gathering aspires to transform the continent’s spiritual diversity into a blueprint for global harmony. Delegates will collaboratively develop long-term strategic frameworks aimed at addressing the root causes of division and cultivating inclusive peace.

The day’s proceedings will culminate in a distinguished Dinner Gala at 7:00 PM, offering participants a rich opportunity for networking, partnership building, and deepening interfaith connections.

Event Details:

• Date: Sunday, 24th August 2025

• Time: 15:00 – 18:45 (Dinner Gala from 19:00)

• Venue: The Pavilion, Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa

As this historic gathering unfolds, it is poised to generate impactful resolutions that will propel interfaith cooperation and peacebuilding across Southern Africa and beyond, reaffirming the continent’s steadfast commitment to reconciliation, justice, and shared prosperity for all.
