NAMPOLII – The Simon Mutumba Police Training Center in the Zambezi Region buzzed with pride, discipline, and a deep sense of duty during the official opening ceremony of the Police Basic Training Course 2025/2026. This milestone marks the commencement of a transformative journey for 292 cadet constables 157 males and 135 females who have committed themselves to upholding the law and protecting the nation with honor.
Commissioner Andreas Shilelo, Regional Commander of Zambezi, spoke on behalf of the Inspector General of the Namibian Police, emphasizing the significance of the training. “The Police Basic Training is not just a course but an intense and comprehensive program designed to equip cadet constables with the skills, knowledge, and core values essential for effective law enforcement,” he said.
Throughout the rigorous nine-month program, cadets will be trained in critical areas including Basic Law, Policing, Charge Office Administration and Management, Drill, Musketry, Border and Installations Guard Management, Basic First Aid, Public Order Management, Information and Communication Technology, Traffic Law Enforcement, and Physical Education. This extensive curriculum ensures that future officers are well prepared to meet the diverse demands of policing in today’s society.
This training initiative also runs concurrently at Ruben “Danger” Ashipala Police Training Centre in Oshana region and Pius Joseph Kaundu Police Training Centre in Omaheke region, bringing the total number of cadet constables enrolled across the three centers to 2,004.
As these young men and women embark on their path to becoming Namibia’s future law enforcement leaders, the country watches with optimism, confident that they will serve with dedication, integrity, and professionalism.
