Nedbank for Good Series goes north as Grootfontein set to make its debut

Windhoek, July 13 – The Nedbank for Good Series commenced its 2025 northern region tour with an exciting round 6 competition in Oshakati this past weekend.
As part of its ongoing growth and development mission of golf in Namibia, the seventh round will be in Tsumeb on 19 July 2025 and round 8 will take place in Grootfontein, which will make its official debut on Saturday, 26 July 2025, marking a significant expansion of its northern rounds.
The two new northern venues follow the introduction of Okahandja as the first addition for the 2025 season, which was announced earlier this year. In the men’s competition this year, local favourite Jeremiah Andreas emerged victorious, claiming the
title from 2023 and 2024 winner Antonius Amugongo.

Andreas scored 42 points to emerge victorious ahead of second-placed David Johannes, who scored 41 points counted in (C/I).
Third place was claimed by Ludwig Mukwirongo, who scored 41 points counted out C/O, ahead of fourth-placed Gebhard Mbako, who scored 41 points C/O, and Nelson Johannes, who also scored 41 points C/O in fifth position.
In the women’s division, Sesilia Nkoshi put aside her festive mood, having attended a wedding, before joining the women golfers on the course to claim victory by 41 points ahead of 2023 and 2024 champion Eveline Shilongo. Second-placed Shilongo scored 31 points, ahead of third-placed Hilya Ininga.
Series organiser, Dan Zwiebel, praised the passionate participation in the northern regions, saying the Oshakati Golf Club and its members have always supported the series:
‘The turnout for our northern events has always been excellent. This has ignited interest in the sport in these parts of the country. This year, we had 24 players in the field at Oshakati, including three ladies. Our winner for the ladies’ section was Sesilia Nkoshi, who is from Windhoek Golf Course and Country Club. She was in the north for a wedding, and we managed to get her on the field.’

This growth not only highlights the series’ increasing reach but also reinforces its ongoing dedication to nurturing local talent, Zwiebel added. Zwiebel paid tribute to the main sponsor, Nedbank Namibia, and all the co-sponsors, saying their
continued support not only helps develop the sport but also helps support a good cause.
This year’s series proceeds go directly to Agra ProVision, whose goal is to train, service, and support underserved agricultural communities.
Nedbank Namibia’s Chief Commercial Officer, JG van Graan, praised the organisers for adding the three new venues, saying their innovation will help increase the number of participants in the sport and raise more funds to support those in need:
‘We are thrilled to welcome Grootfontein, alongside Outjo and Okahandja, as new venues for the Nedbank for Good Series this year. This expansion is a testament to Nedbank’s ongoing dedication to growing golf in Namibia, ensuring that the sport reaches and benefits even more communities across our beautiful country’.
Van Graan added that the new competition will bring along a new challenge, helping the players become more competitive, while the competition becomes more exciting.
He added that the Nedbank for Good Series plays a vital role in providing a crucial platform for local golf talent to shine, hone their skills, and compete at a high level.
After a busy July, another new venue, Outjo Golf Club, will take centre stage on Saturday, 2 August 2025, before Henties Bay Golf and Lifestyle Estate joins the party on Saturday, 16 August 2025, Rossmund Golf Course on Saturday, 23 August 2025, and Walvis Bay Golf on Saturday, 30 August 2025.
The penultimate competition will take place at the Windhoek Golf and Country Club on Saturday, 13 September 2025, followed by the grand finale at the Omeya Golf Club on Friday, 3 October 2025.
The 2025 Nedbank for Good series is proudly sponsored by Nedbank Namibia, and supported by Autohaus Windhoek, Vivo Energy, AfricaOnline, Agra, B2Gold, Gondwana Collection Namibia, JTC
